About
A Meta Quest
- Why am I seeing more ads and promoted content on my feed?
- Why does social media feel less enjoyable and engaging?
- Why is it so hard to see updates and important posts from friends and family?
I’m not alone in these questions—many people share the same frustrations. Through The Beckoning Cat, I’m exploring what’s driving the content we see and why the original purpose of Facebook—staying connected with loved ones—is getting lost in the noise. Join me as I dig into what’s really happening behind the scenes.
How I'm Going to Do It
The Beckoning Cat is my way of poking at Meta’s algorithms and seeing what shakes loose. This is a playful experiment, and yes, a bit of a troll. I’m openly exploring, testing, and challenging the way content is curated and shared on social media, without any pretense or hidden agenda.
As I dive into answering my three big questions, I’ll be taking on different projects and setting goals that help uncover what’s really going on behind the scenes. From creating and testing a Facebook business page, to tracking engagement and content reach, each step is about pulling back the layers and seeing what makes this platform tick.
Whether it’s breaking down how ads are targeted or finding out why important posts are getting buried, The Beckoning Cat is my toolkit for figuring out what’s driving the content we see—and having some fun in the process.
Stay tuned as I navigate this maze of algorithms and share what I find, all in the spirit of curiosity and a little mischief!
Things I Value
I believe in the importance of free speech and a free internet where everyone has the right to express themselves and access information openly. Being transparent about how personal information is used is also a big deal to me. I value authentic connections, especially with friends and family, and want to build a space where meaningful interactions take priority over ads and curated content.
